In 2003, I participated in a Basic How-To faux painting book with Taunton Press Publications.

In this book, I show you the basics of faux painting. It starts with how to remove old wallpaper and repairing damaged walls. Then we cover how to base coat your walls and get them ready for faux finishing.

One of my projects was a kitchen redo on a budget. I took old dark kitchen cabinets and transformed them into a creamy French country look with a glaze on them. I then added new crystal knobs to finish the look.

Under the newly transformed cabinets, I painted a faux tile with fruits to match the kitchen theme. I show you how to paint fruits on a pantry door by using a stencil and embellish it to look free hand painted.

After the kitchen I moved into "How-To" paint a floor with a diamond pattern.

There are many other projects and finishes in the book by other people who participated in the project.

In there you will learn how to do striping, strieing, chambray, crackling, old world glazing, cloud creation and what materials and tools you will need to start and finish your project.

This is a great book for do it yourselfers who are looking for weekend projects!
